Zachia Middlechild
Environmentalist,
Artist, and Author
I have loved the Earth and all life on Earth for as long as I can remember.
That is why I had Lithographs made of my Eco-Spiritual Expressionistic painting series, "Earth, Universe, and Higher Consciousness."
I want to change the mindset of humanity with beautiful high-quality,
and affordable prints on a larger scale than "1 oil painting = 1 owner."
Zachia Middlechild, artist, environmentalist, and author, started out drawing portraits in pencil at a very young age and then graduated to charcoal and pastels. She didn’t start painting until her formal art education at the Emily Carr College of Art & Design and the UW, where she learned to paint with oils and developed her style, EcoSpiritual Expressionism. Since then, she has made it a mission to Save the Earth thru her artwork.
In her own words: “I guess you could say I grew up in the woods! I was born in the city of Seattle, but when I was seven years old we moved across the lake to the country where I had 60 acres of forest to play in, no neighbors for miles, and horses to ride! Back then western Washington was all rolling hills, forested with red cedar, hemlock, spruce, and mostly Douglas fir, it was a veritable evergreen wonderland! I don’t think it’s possible to grow up as close to nature as I did, (I spent most of my time in a tree or beside a frog pond) and not have a strong feeling for the Earth show up in my artwork. I think my work alternates between trying to recapture the woods into my living room and conveying the concept of life and nature that I developed while spending time there.”
Zachia Middlechild has exhibited nationally and internationally and has collectors from
New York to Texas, Zimbabwe to Peru, and Chicago to Vancouver, B.C. She lives in Ferndale, Washington with her husband, Harry Cutler.
